programming is art

art is creative expression
all programs are an expression of their creators

programming uses creative thinking. you gotta figure out not only how to make it work, but also be careful so it doesnt become spaghetti, and that is hard

rather than being creative in a visual, audial, etc. way, its creative in a logical/engineering way, similar to how writing/worldbuilding is creative in a storytelling way. not as concrete, but still a form of expression

theres also similarities between it and other artforms - like what tools someone likes to use, what medium of expression it creates (utility, game, gfx, etc.), or the specific preferences/style someone has when in the process of creation

it does bring up the interesting question of why companies treat one artform (programming, engineering) more highly than another (drawing, 3d modelling), while also treating it as something seperate from art
